Choosing the best location for your high school senior photoshoot doesn’t have to be stressful! But it is important to choose something that fits your vibe and your outfits. Senior photos ARE all about you! Each location will have its own style and ideal colors that compliment them. Properly coordinating outfits and location is a recipe for spectacular photos. Lets breakdown some super trendy senior photo styles and examples:
Parking Garage
Find a parking garage and go allllll the way to the top. I am serious. They are SO FUN! Lots of space to get some sweet photos of you being you! Bring the fishnets, skirt and cute top. Guys, keep it simple–fun shoes, jeans and a black shirt. Hats are generally ok, but most photographers ask that you also take some photos without one on too. The area under the bill shades your pretty face! 😛
(i.e. Indianapolis, Cincinnati)
Cityscape
Take a walk downtown whether it’s the closest smaller town or big city. The buildings provide texture and colors unmatched to anything else. Put on your favorite formal attire whether its a gown or a jumpsuit. Guys, seriously, just put on the suit for your mom. She will LOVE it! Ask if your photographer can capture some dramatic shots (using the background and creative lighting) to really showcase your fancy side.
(i.e. historic downtown Batesville, Greensburg, Columbus, Rushville, Indianapolis, Cincinnati etc)
Field
During the summer months, wild flower fields are GORGEOUS! The colors of all the flowers pop beautifully amongst the green grass and trees. A white sundress would look stunning here. Or if you wanted something even more casual, a simple white top with jeans would look great here too.
(i.e. Indiana State Parks, hay fields etc)
Creek
A flowy white gown would pop against the dark landscape of a creek. If you’re lucky, the sunlight will shine through the trees to give you the chef’s kiss! And if you’re feelin’ in, get in the water for some stellar shots! Your photographer will greatly thank you for it!
(i.e. Versailles State Park, off the side of the road etc)
Creative
These senior sessions are all about you so be sure to incorporate who you are whether it includes your hobbies/interests or just your favorite vibes and colors. If you are an artist, bring your brushes and easel. If you are a dancer, bring your shoes and a uniform. If you are a tennis player, tell your photographer you want photos on the court. Football players, get on that field and bring your gear!
You hear all the old people say “time flies” and they aren’t wrong. Capture who you are right now, because you aren’t getting any younger. Use this opportunity to get personalized senior portraits; your parents and future self will thank you! 😉
