FAQ
These frequently asked questions are designed to help high school seniors and parents understand what to expect from a senior photo experience with Cyprus Photography. Each answer is written to be clear, helpful, and searchable for families looking for an Indianapolis & Cincinnati senior photographer who offers authentic, bold, and colorful senior portraits.
When do you take senior pictures?
The best time to book your senior photos is 6–12 months in advance, especially if you want a specific season like summer flowers, fall color, or spring blooms. Many of my seniors book during junior year to secure their ideal date. Prime dates fill quickly, particularly for seniors traveling from Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and surrounding areas to photograph in my outdoor studio and flower field.
Can I bring my parents, friend or significant other to my photo session?
Yes—and also, sometimes no. Your comfort is incredibly important, so parents are always welcome, and having a friend or significant other can be great in small doses. If you’d like to bring someone, I recommend they join us for a short portion of the session (about 10–15 minutes) or during the family portion only.
From experience, having extra people present for the entire session can become distracting and take away from the purpose of this time. This session is truly about you—your confidence, your personality, and your once‑in‑a‑lifetime senior year. Creating space for that allows you to relax, be present, and fully step into your amazingness.
Do you photograph seniors who feel awkward or shy?
Yes—many of my seniors start their session feeling nervous or unsure in front of the camera. You do not need to know how to pose or be “photogenic.” I guide you through natural movement, gentle posing, and prompts that bring out real expressions. My approach to senior photography focuses on authenticity, not forced smiles.
I am not in any sports or extracurriculars. Can we still get cool senior photos?
100%. Senior photos are about who you are, not necessarily what activities you participate in. Whether you love fashion, music, books, art, nature, or simply want timeless portraits, we’ll design a session that feels personal and meaningful. You do not need sports, props, or hobbies to create stunning senior portraits. BUT, I will always recommend to bring props along to add to your session!
How long does a senior photo session last?
Most senior sessions last between 1-6 hours. This allows time for outfit changes, multiple locations, and a relaxed pace so nothing feels rushed. The goal is to create a calm, enjoyable experience that results in a diverse gallery of images.
Where are you located?
Cyprus Photography is based in southeastern Indiana, serving high school seniors from Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Greensburg, Batesville, Columbus, and surrounding areas. My outdoor studio includes a constantly evolving flower field, forest areas, creek setting and natural scenery that many seniors travel hours to experience.
What is your photography style?
My style is authentic, bold, and colorful, with an emphasis on storytelling and emotion. I create senior portraits that feel timeless yet artistic—images that reflect confidence, individuality, and real personality rather than trends that fade quickly.
What do I wear, and how many outfits are included?
You’ll receive guidance on what to wear before your session, including help with colors, textures, and styling. Most seniors bring 2–4 outfits, allowing for variety while keeping the session cohesive. I help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully and feel like you.
How many locations can we go to during a session?
Most sessions include 2–3 locations, depending on timing and proximity. My outdoor studio offers multiple looks in one place, and additional nearby locations may be incorporated if they align with your vision and session plan. This is your session, so if you want to incorporate your high school, a flower field and your horse, we can definitely do all three. We discuss and work it all out during our consultation call.
How much do senior pictures cost?
Senior photography is an investment in preserving this once-in-a-lifetime season. Session fees and collections vary based on the experience and products selected, such as wall art or luxury albums. During your consultation and Reveal session, you’ll see your images and choose what best fits your family. Most families invest in artwork designed to be cherished long after graduation. What happens if the weather is bad on photo day?
If weather conditions aren’t ideal—such as heavy rain or extreme temperatures—we’ll reschedule or adjust plans as needed. While bright, sunny days are often desired, they aren’t always available, and that’s okay. In fact, cloudy skies are some of my favorite conditions to photograph in. Overcast light creates beautiful, even tones and partly cloudy skies boasts rich contrast that translates into bold, timeless senior portraits.
Don’t be discouraged by the forecast. When you hire a photographer who truly understands light, the creative possibilities are endless.
I also offer studio options that allow us to continue creating stunning senior photos regardless of the weather. Flexibility and intention are built into the experience—we will make magic no matter what.
